Vineyard: Planted in 1982, the sustainably farmed Jurassic Vineyard in Santa Ynez Valley is situated on rolling hills at an elevation of approximately 1,100 feet. The vineyard takes its name from the site’s fossil-rich soils. These well-drained, limestone laden sandy soils produce small vines and clusters. Jurassic’s own-rooted Chenin Blanc vines produce a beautifully textured wine with abundant minerality and exotic fruit.
Harvest: After a great growing season, the cooler weather in later summer gave us the ability to harvest at our own pace without the stress from major heat waves. We hand harvested the Jurassic Park on October 1st at 21 Brix.
Cellar Notes: This wine underwent a few hours of skin contact before being whole cluster pressed and fermented in a concrete egg, using spontaneous yeast.

Malolactic fermentation: 100%
Tasting Notes: This wine begins with a beautiful nose of almond, white pepper and beeswax, subtle notes of ash and quince. On the palate, an almost architectural streak of acidity adds poise and length to flavors of almond skin & Meyer lemon all of which carry through to a long, complex and creamy finish. The 2016 Chenin Blanc Jurassic Vineyard is scented of lightly browned toast and fresh hay over a core of white peaches and sliced pears plus a hint of almonds. Medium-bodied with mouth-filling apple and savory flavors, it finishes long and lively. Quite an oxidative style and it really works! 165 cases produced.
